School Corridor Unistrut Supports

Unistrut Metal Framing is a product that is commonly used by electrical and mechanical contractors to support their pipes or conduits. In school construction the majority of those electrical and mechanical systems are run in the hallways above the ceiling. Unistrut Midwest can help you design a universal support structure for all trades to connect their pipe, conduits, or cable trays. A Unistrut Universal Corridor Support Structure is a structure designed by Unistrut at a uniform spacing and elevation that is designed to support all overhead services in a specific corridor. Typical Unistrut Corridor Supports would span wall to wall in a hallway at an elevation 24-48″ above the ceiling. The supports would be spaced at 48-72″ on center typically.

The benefits of a Unistrut Universal Corridor Support System include:

  • The universal support systems will reduce the number of threaded rods/supports in the corridor. A uniform support structure will put supports in pre-determined locations with consistent drops to the building structure. When compared to each trade providing an individual trapeze support, the universal support structure uses 1/3 of the threaded rod drops.
  • Minimize clashes between trades. The Universal support structure will allow for each trade to claim a zone in the support system for their trade’s pipes or conduits. The dedicated space for each trade provides a specified location for that trade which minimizes on site conflicts between trades. This will lower the cost of field engineering or re-working MEP runs.
  • One engineered support structure with published load capacities. The Unistrut Universal Corridor Support can be designed and sealed by Unistrut’s engineers. We provide max uniform and point loads for the support system. This gives the design team piece of mind that the support system can in fact support all of the services in the corridor.
  • Supports designed, supplied, and installed by one contractor. In lieu of each trade providing individual supports, a Unistrut Universal Corridor Support can be furnished and installed by a Unistrut contractor. With the Unistrut specialty contractor in charge of the Unistrut Support, the MEP contractors can focus on running conduit, pulling wire, or other more critical tasks. The Unistrut support system installed in advance will help reduce the schedule by letting each trade install faster based on a pre-installed support structure.
